News of UNAIR Postgraduate School, 15 Jun 2021 – The Postgraduate School of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) again held a webinar on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. This time came with the topic TUTORIAL OF SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS IN THE FIELD OF SOSHUM: PREPARATION OF CONFERENCE PAPERS AND REPUTABLE JOURNALS. Present as a speaker, namely Bagus Oktavian as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga, as well as acting as a moderator, Fitri Dianitasari.
Bagus argues that nowadays, academics, especially lecturers, do not publish their writings, so their careers will be dimmed. The existence of the term PUBLISH OR PERISH is a picture where the reputation of an academic depends on his writing. The completion of a writing or scientific work is not the end of his obligation to write, but only the beginning to publish works that are further researched.
Bagus also added that if an author wants to publish his work in a journal, he should follow the writing reference or also known as a guide for the author (GFA). Each journal has a different GFA, and authors are required to adapt their manuscript format according to the GFA. In addition, even though the manuscript is following the GFA, it does not mean that the manuscript has a great chance of being accepted, but it still needs to go through a series of review processes. Even after the reviewing process, if there are still deficiencies in the manuscript, both in grammatical format and research data, it is the responsibility of the author to correct it to be sent back to the editor of the destination journal
Bagus stated that there are several journal indexing institutions according to their level, namely Sinta for the local level, and Scopus for the international level. In addition, there are ratings such as the web of science which is an alternative to Scopus. He thinks that for nationally ranked journals starting from Sinta 6 and then moving up to Sinta 3. As for the criteria for accredited national ranking, it is divided between Sinta 2 and Sinta 1. Regardless of the rank, a scientific manuscript must have useful findings and quality content. One of them is the preparation of the abstract as the foundation of the manuscript briefly summarizing the contents of the entire manuscript.
