UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga has managed to get into Indonesia’s top five best universities based on Webometrics ranking. In that ranking, Webometrics provides an assessment of all universities in the world based on their website.
In the ranking published on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, via the Webometrics page, UNAIR is ranked #1272 in the world. It improves its position by 51 places from the previous ranking in January 2021, which was #1323 in the world.
UNAIR Director of Information Systems and Digitalization, Yunus Abdul Halim, S.Si., M.Kom. revealed several indicators used by Webometrics in conducting the assessment, Visibility Impact with 50%, Openness with 10%, and Excellence with 40% weighting.
UNAIR showed excellent results on the Transparency or Openness indicator in the three categories, which was ranked #974 in the world and #4 in Indonesia. In this indicator, the assessment looks at the number of scientific studies cited or quoted by other researchers. The citations were taken from 210 top university researchers.
For the following ranking assessment, Yunus said his team would continue to boost several other assessment indicators.
“Strategies that we have not implemented, such as content data network, quality improvement, and also connection concept. Hopefully, it will improve our Webometrics ranking in terms of stability, visibility, “said Yunus.
The Webometrics ranking puts UNAIR in the top five positions in Indonesia, after University of Indonesia (#729), IPB University (#1092), Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (#1103), and Brawijaya University (#1163).
Five other universities in Indonesia listed in the top ten after UNAIR are Telkom University (#1416), Bina Nusantara University (#1947), Gadjah Mada University (#2104), Bandung Institute of Technology (# 2125), and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (#2231). (*)
