Executive Training PT PJB with Ira Puspitasari PhD. – UNAIR : Digital Transformation

News of UNAIR Postgraduate School, 1 Jul 2021 – The Postgraduate School of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) through its human resource development institution, namely the Executive Learning Hub (ELH) again held training for PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali, a subsidiary of PT PLN. This session comes with the topic of Product development. Present as the main speaker was Ira Puspitasari from the Faculty of Science and Technology UNAIR.

Ira stated that in the era of the fourth industrial revolution as it is now, the industry to survive is more focused on optimizing the knowledge possessed by workers with the help of artificial intelligence or AI. Today’s era no longer prioritizes the thinking of the boss or leader as a decision-maker. Instead, the leadership should focus on the ability of workers in decision-making and workers as the center of decision-making taken by the leadership.

The fourth industrial revolution also focuses on using technology to replace manual work or labor jobs done by humans for the financial efficiency of companies. “Artificial intelligence has an important role in managing the production systems of multinational companies through machine learning, data analysis, and cloud computing,” she said. One example is that retail companies in the United States use cloud computing to store transaction data every day and use machine learning to study customer demand trends through transaction data stored in the cloud.

Ira also explained how to start digitalization within the company. The first step is to observe the market situation and the number of assets owned by the company, both inventory assets, funds, and employee assets. In addition, companies also need to understand the company’s work environment in depth before attempting to transform. Companies also need to map the internal structure of the company, production processes, and the role of each department. This is so that when transforming, each department and production line can adapt quickly.

The second stage is setting the business goals behind the desire for digital transformation. The things the company wants to achieve in general behind the digital transformation that will be carried out need to be considered. In addition, it is necessary to observe whether the digital transformation is in line with existing company goals. The company needs to determine the appropriate business strategy first before investing to remodel the company. The third stage is to create a digital transformation roadmap, by creating a digital platform that is suitable for the company’s work environment, not imported applications. In addition, companies also need to continuously train their HR skills and knowledge about digital devices.

Then the fourth stage is managing the transformation process so that there is no conflict between the transformation process and the work environment. It should be underlined here that digital transformation must prioritize human resources, workers, and employees who carry out company policies, not just orders from superiors. Otherwise, the transformation process will take a long time and hamper the company’s productivity. There should be no coercion, either from the company or superiors to the HR to carry out the transformation. This is where leadership skills play a role.
