Airlangga Forum with MUI Jatim: National Health, Socioeconomic and Homecoming Activities

News of UNAIR Postgraduate School, 16 Apr 2021 – The month of Ramadan, is the momentum awaited by Muslims. However, in this month of Ramadan we are faced with the covid-19 pandemic with various life problems that are always changing during this pandemic period. Therefore, Universitas Airlangga held a discussion forum that took the theme ” NATIONAL HEALTH, SOCIOECONOMIC AND HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES”.  The event was attended by several speakers who attended this time such as Porf. Ahmad Muzaki, M. Ag., M.Phil., Grad. Dip.SE., Ph.D (General Secretariat of MUI East Java), Prof. Dr. Djoko Santoso. Dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD.K-GH.FINASM. (Chairman of the Academic Senate of Airlangga University), Prof. Madya Dr. Anas Bin Mohd Yunus (Faculty of Islamic Contempory Studies UniSZA), Prof. Badri Munir Sukoco (Director of Pacasarjana School of Airlangga University), Suparto Wijoyo (Deputy Director III of The Graduate School of Airlangga University and Host of Airlangga Forum).

Several speakers expressed their opinions on how to deal with the covid-19 pandemic as it is today. Prof. Dr. Djoko Santoso argues that Indonesia is not easy to mobilize its people to deal with the covid-19 pandemic. In addition, Indonesia is one of the countries with a large population. Unlike some countries such as New Zealand, they easily mobilize the population to cope with the covid-19 pandemic. However, there are some countries with a large population that can mobilize their communities to deal with the covid pandemic well, in other words the effectiveness of their community income is replaced and fulfilled by the government.

On the other hand, Porf. Ahmad Muzaki expressed his opinion that there are five maqasid shari’ah that we need to know in the midst of the pandemic covid-19, namely first keeping religion, taking care of oneself, keeping property, maintaining reason, and maintaining lineage. Taking care of ourselves by obeying health protocols, we automatically keep families and religions from various things during the covid pandemic as it is today. He also added that it is not appropriate on behalf of any of us to be careless to violate health protocols let alone impersonate religion. In addition, self-care is one of the obligations that we indirectly maintain wholeness in various aspects, especially the economy of our own family.
